The Dolby Audio Production Suite's DAMF>MP4 conversion is offline. The objects and spatialization are a little mushier than what I heard from the DAMF file, but that's to be expected.
HOW TO LAUNCH DOLBY AUDIO X2 MP4
Putting the MP4 on a USB stick and putting that in a consumer A/V receiver with the Klipsch Atmos system sounded great. I don't have Atmos speakers attached to my Xbox, but I suspect it would play well. It played in 5.1 in my home 5.1 studio very nicely, and it played on my Xbox in binaural with no problem. But if you'd send me an Atmos mp4 file, it would probably not play back at all or just fold down to normal stereo, instead of a binaural headphone mix.The MP4 plays in folded-down stereo on nearly anything.
HOW TO LAUNCH DOLBY AUDIO X2 PC
I have Dolby Atmos for Headphones on my PC & Xbox and it's great for supported Games & BluRays. Unfortunately I don't have a mac, so I can just make assumptions instead of trying the DAPS and testing if my argument holds up But if I get it right, 'consumer Atmos systems' still is restricted to mostly TVs/AVRs/BluRay Players. But if you'd send me an Atmos mp4 file, it would probably not play back at all or just fold down to normal stereo, instead of a binaural headphone mix.įair enough, didn't know that. Only tidal HiFi will give you a 'true' atmos experience on headphones and all other content will simply be spatialized. If you want to experience Atmos on your phone, you're limited to mostly Samsung devices and even then there's no such thing as an "Atmos Audio Player". I have commercial music mixes that have been released publicly in this format.Fair enough, didn't know that. The $300 DAPS will let you export an Atmos MP4 file (Dolby Digital+ JOC encoded), that plays back on nearly any device from phones to computers and sounds pretty good on consumer Atmos systems (USB flash drive).
HOW TO LAUNCH DOLBY AUDIO X2 MAC
Even if you are a Mac owner and mix a song in Atmos, the only way to release & listen to Atmos Music are Amazon Music HD (and you also need an Echo Studio for listening) or Tidal HiFi. If you want to get into Atmos, you still have to do it their way and you're going to need a lot of money. On one side Dolby is acting like Atmos Music is the new hot thing for everyone but on the other side they are gate-keeping as f*ck.
HOW TO LAUNCH DOLBY AUDIO X2 SOFTWARE
So, the software runs on Windows, it´s just the audio pipeline between the DAW and the DAPS within the system that needs some work.Īnyone else in a similar situation? It would be nice to know if it's being developed at least.Same here. What´s is weird is that before the MAC mini became an option for an external RMU with Focusrite PCIe Dante cards running on a thunderbolt chassis, the renderer was running on a Dell PC with MADI cards from RME. My opinion is that they just don´t care, because they have most of their user base concentrated on MAC´s. It´s just an internal computer audio pipeline. Others like Merging for example, have use it with Pyramix (ASIO Audio Bridge) to interconnect their DAW with other apps within the same system many years ago. I think ASIO is a viable and stable way to do it, that is with us for years. There may be no equivalent CoreAudio SDK in Windows to allow that inter-application function.Maybe, but before that and until recently, there was the Send/Return way to interface the renderer/DAPS. This is only speculation on my part, but I suspect it has more to do with the Dolby Audio Bridge. Dolby is a strange company, I can only assume there is some trade policy reason around this, not a technical one. It´s one of those things that nobody (that uses Windows) understands, given the mastering suite runs on a PC. Essentially to test the waters or at least premix in Atmos for now without buying a mac.Īnyone else in a similar situation? It would be nice to know if it's being developed at least.Totally agree. Hoping Dolby adds a Windows option as I'm sure other Windows users would like to expand and invest in Atmos but are hesitant to jump to a expensive RMU without having the basic production suite to try first on Windows. Supposedly you may be able to DPS on Nuendo on a PC? Has anyone confirmed this. They also offer the dolby atmos mastering software for windows so why not the production suite? Seems like ot would be a simple port.
HOW TO LAUNCH DOLBY AUDIO X2 PRO
According to production expert polls most people nowadays are using Windows for pro tools users anyway. Buying an overpriced Mac Pro for one program and switching from windows os is a big thing. I've been waiting over a year for dolby production suite for windows.
